The olive tree is the symbolic tree par excellence of the first human Mediterranean civilization and landscape. It represents the history of the family, the landscape inherited from the ancestors. It’s a gift that is passed on from generation to generation.
It is the fourth generation of a family of olive growers and oil mills that today takes care of the Sarullo company, located in a picturesque part of Sicily, in the area of Monti Sicani, close to the sea and not far from the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. The farm extends in an area that includes the territory of the municipality of Calamonaci and some neighboring towns, in a hilly area wich has always been suited to olive growing, about 300 meters above sea level and dotted with olive trees.
LOVE FOR THE EARTH FOR FOUR GENERATIONS LOOKING to the future
The history of the Sarullo company is intertwined with the history of a family that for four generations has passed on the love for the land and its products.
From the early 20th century to the present day, the Sarullo company has always put people at the centre of its business, considered the most precious asset. A team of different people with skills and experiences but united by the same objectives: consolidate the culture of extra virgin olive oil informing, training and educating the new generations and satisfing the best customers through the creation of an oil that combines family tradition and know-how with the most advanced technologies.
The new oil mill of Gaspare Sarullo e Figli is located on the S.S. 386 in the territory of Ribera, on the border with the town of Calamonaci, 40 km from the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. A unique territory, not only for the beauty of its landscape that leaves you breathless. It is an area in which the best soil and climate conditions for the olive groves are conveyed, guaranteeing an unforgettable fruit with an unparalleled flavour.
Inaugurated on September 29, 2002, it replaces the ancient oil mill in Calamonaci, which for several generations has marked the history of the Sarullo family. The new structure is equipped with all the features of a modern oil mill to which is added the experience of the workers in the process of transformation that is carried out within the structure by very modern machinery.
Looking towards the future, therefore, without forgetting the patient workmanship of a time that allowed this family to really know and love every aspect of this precious green gold.
All the technological improvements have had as an end the production of an oil that can maintain unchanged perfumes and flavors and all its beneficial properties and its incredible mix of antioxidants.
The meticulous care of a product such as Sarullo oil also carefully pays attention to all the other phases. The company, in fact, takes care of every step of the entire olive-oil production chain:
- farming
- transformation
- storage
- bottling
- marketing of the product.
In addition to this, it also deals with third-party processing for many olive growers in the area.
